Scammers are targeting island householders by falsely claiming to offer rent refunds.
Bogus callers try to get hold of people's bank details by saying they work for Hebridean Housing Partnership and want to refund a rent payment.
A spokesperson for the council's trading standards department said: “Consumers are reminded that Hebridean Housing Partnership will never contact you for private details in this manner.”
Islanders are asked to report any similar activity to Police Scotland on 101 or Trading Standards at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar on 01851 822 694
